Personal vs. Interpersonal

Personal vs. Interpersonal

This is primarily an attraction routine, but it can also be used as a transition after an 'opinion' opener that brings up the topic of relationships. It lets you hear her thoughts on dating, which may help you decide if you want to vibe with her and in what way.

My friend came up with a theory about relationships. He said there are personal qualities and there are relationship qualities.

Personal qualities are the things that attract you to someone as a person, like, "Is he charming? Attractive? Charismatic?" Stuff like that.

Relationship qualities are like, "Is he loyal? Does he show up on time? Is he going to sleep with my best friend?" You know, stuff like that.

When you date someone with strong personal qualities but without relationship qualities, it will be passionate, but unstable and full of drama.

When you date someone who has relationship qualities but not many personal qualities, he’ll be reliable and loyal—but about as exciting as a schoolteacher.

So according to his theory, unless you find someone who has a mix of both, you’re never really going to be happy. I think that’s true.
